Language-Focused Backpacking
Adventure-Style Travel
Spanish in Motion
Ever feel like you only scratched the surface?
On your last backpacking trip, you stayed in great hostels, met amazing people, and saw incredible places.
But it still felt like you were only scratching the surface.
A lot of the time, you get pulled into the traveler bubble. You meet people from everywhere, but rarely break into the local circle. And that’s where the deeper experience is.
Because to truly understand a place, you have to be able to talk to the people who live there.
And that only happens through the language.
That’s the difference between visiting a place and actually experiencing it.
The Trip
A small-group backpacking adventure built around real travel and real Spanish
Every trip is different, but the idea stays the same: 1 - 2 week multi-city trips experiencing culture through language.
What makes it different
- Small groups only (2-5 people max)
- Built for travelers in their 20s and 30s
- Each trip includes a local guide to show us the city and help us practice our Spanish
The Spanish side
- Conversation-first, based on a communicative approach to language learning
- Real-world modules where you actively use Spanish in real situations
- Conversation over memorization — no waiting until you’re “ready”
- Lessons that happen naturally as we move
- Grammar learned through real-world context, not textbooks
- Activities designed to keep you constantly practicing throughout the entire trip
Upcoming Trip: Baja Mexico Backpacking
San José del Cabo
Meet at the hostel for our group welcome dinner, and get to know our local guide on our first night out.
Beaches, small town strolls, and be tested in your first real-world Spanish modules navigating everyday situations.
Todos Santos
First travel day brings first challenges: learning how to actually get around in Spanish.
Beach and opportunity for surf in Cerritos, meeting locals, and a visit to a local mango farm.
La Paz
By now you've got the hang of it, time to pepper in the jerga (slang).
Activities galore: Playa Balandra, scuba, or swimming with whale sharks.
La Ventana
Let all the concepts begin to sink in while we explore La Ventana's laid-back vibes, natural hot springs, and enjoy a slower day before the final stretch.
Cabo San Lucas
It's not backpacking without a long travel day as we make our way to Cabo San Lucas
We'll tie together everything we've learned and experienced before the last night out; let's make it a big one!
You’re speaking Spanish in real situations, with real people
Making mistakes, making friends, and learning more than any classroom could teach you.
Upcoming Trip: Quechimba Colombia Backpacking
Medellín
Meet at the hostel for our group welcome dinner, and get to know our local guide on our first night out.

Cartagena
Overnight bus up the coast, your first real taste of long-haul Latin American travel.
Arriving in Cartagena, we dive straight into Old City and Getsemaní. Street food, nightlife, and real opportunities to start connecting in Spanish.
Santa Marta
At this point, you’re not just speaking, you’re starting to think in Spanish.
Bike ride out to Taganga, exploring local markets, and mixing in nightlife with options for scuba diving along the coast.
Tayrona
Pack your bug spray and get ready for some of the most stunning nature in Colombia.
Jungle hikes, hidden beaches, and putting your Spanish to work in real situations along the way.
This is for you if:
- You’re a traveler or backpacker, not a tourist
- You’re actively learning Spanish and want to improve it
- You're social and want to connect with other travelers
- You’re in your 20s or 30s (sorry Gen X)
- You're up for an active trip — i.e. hiking, surfing, diving, dancing (it's LATAM, there will be dancing)
Spanish requirement:
You should have at least an A2 level of Spanish.
If you’re not sure what A2 looks like, watch this example:
A2 Spanish Example (Instituto Cervantes)
If your reading and writing are there but speaking is not yet up to par, let's schedule a call. We do a quick video call before the trip to ensure everyone is at the same level.
Should we send it?
